Acetaminophen (Tylenol) reduces fever and relieves pain. Typical uses include fevers, immunizations, teething, earaches, bruises, and headaches. Please notify us prior to using Tylenol for babies under 2 months old. Acetaminophen is available in the following forms:
- Infant Concentrated drops (80 mg / 0.8 ml) Note: 0.8 ml = 1 dropper
- Infant Oral Suspension (160 mg / 5 ml) Note: 5 ml = 1 tsp
- Children’s liquid (160 mg / 5 ml)
- Chewable tablets (80 mg)
- Junior strength tablets (160 mg)
- Rectal suppository (80 mg, 120 mg, 325 mg) – used if child is vomiting or resistant to taking oral medicine. The suppositories can be cut-up to get the proper dose.

Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) reduces fever, relieves pain, and fights inflammation. Typical uses include fevers, immunizations, teething, earaches, bruises, headache, sunburns, and sore muscles. We usually recommend that ibuprofen not be used in babies under 6 months old. Ibuprofen is available in the following forms:
- Infant drops (50 mg / 1.25 ml) Note: 1.25 ml= 1 dropper
- Children’s liquid (100 mg / 5 ml) Note: 5 ml = 1 tsp
- Chewable tablets (50 mg)
- Junior strength tablets (100 mg)
